Cars- Just What I Needed- Cleveland 7-18-78
When The Cars played the Cleveland Agora club in early July 1978, they were just a Boston-based baby band with a just-released first album, trying to establish a toehold somewhere outside New England. Cars singer/songwriter Ric Ocasek and singer/bass player Benjamin Orr had actually met in Ohio a few years earlier and performed the Cleveland/Akron/Canton clubs as a folk duo, Milkwood, so it was a logical place to cash in some goodwill. Showing a tight well-rehearsed band from Day One, here’s The Cars embryonic version of “Just What I Needed”. –Redbeard
