Elton John and his musical director, guitarist Davey Johnstone, have led one of rock’s best live bands for half a century, and here is recorded witness to that fact as they test-drove some of Elton’s then-new songs in 1973 from his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album at London’s venerable Hammersmith Odeon theater.
