Elton John- Take Me to the Pilot- Foxborough MA 9-6-93

We all know how powerful first impressions are, and it just so happens that the first time I heard Elton John tear into “Take Me to the Pilot”, it was from the live New York City club radio broadcast later released as 11/17/70, so the stripped down live arrangement has always been my benchmark for the song. We present it  from another radio broadcast thirty years ago in September 1993to herald both the completion of Elton John’s massive multi-year “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour as well as his upcoming residency along with Bernie Taupin here In the Studio  next month for two consecutive weeks. –Redbeard
