Rolling Stones- Let It Bleed 55th- Bill Wyman, Mick Taylor 11-25
Two Rolling Stones who were there, original bass player Bill Wyman and then- 21 year old lead guitarist Mick Taylor, are my guests In the Studio for the story of recording and touring behind Let It Bleed, the November 1969 masterpiece. Let It Bleed was the Stones’ first full album after the death of band co-founder Brian Jones, containing the seminal songs “Gimme Shelter”, “Midnight Rambler”, “Live with Me”, “Monkey Man”, and the era-defining “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”.
The fastest selling Rolling Stones album to date, the artistic and commercial successes of Let It Bleed, and even their notorious image are all tied inexorably to one particular event on the subsequent American tour with a single concert appearance near San Francisco at Altamount Raceway. Both Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor were there for the ramp up, the planning, and eyewitnesses to the violence which effectively slammed the door on the Summer of Love and the Woodstock promise of peace. Don’t miss the fifty-fifth anniversary of the Rolling Stones’ Let It Bleed here In the Studio the week of November 25. –Redbeard
