Showco- Chuck Conrad pt 2

As Showco grew rapidly from doing Southern Methodist University keggers to Led Zeppelin and Paul McCartney & Wings world tours, a lot of second tier and new baby bands, particularly British and Irish groups, were finding Showco’s touring resources booked and unaffordable. So after leaving Showco, Chuck Conrad was bankrolled by early Showco client band Rare Earth to provide smaller rigs for mid-sized venues with Chuck’s Crossroads Audio. Among the baby bands in those days that opened Rare Earth concerts were The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan (do you see where this is going?). As the music industry grew exponentially in the second half of the Seventies and all through the Eighties, Crossroads Audio provided a crucial entry point for fledgling performers such as The Police and U2 to access top-shelf professionals and services without breaking the bank. This is part two of two. -Redbeard
